Official Oconee Contacts

This is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot verify a custody status, arrange release, post bond, or obtain an official booking record. Contact the public office responsible for the record or case.

Custody, Detention, and Records

For a present-custody question, start with the Oconee County Sheriff's Office and its official inmate-search route. For a specific booking document or an existing, releasable photograph, use the Sheriff's FOIA process. The published Sheriff site hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Oconee County Sheriff's Office
300 South Church St.
Walhalla, SC 29691
Main office: 864-638-4117
Non-emergency or dispatch: 864-638-4111
Records or office manager: 864-638-4118
Oconee County Detention Center: 864-638-4228

The OCSO FOIA page publishes the request route and charges. The Sheriff's inmate-search page connects to the live public portal, which addresses current OCDC custody rather than a complete historical archive.

Choose the Office That Holds the Record

Different questions reach different public systems. Use the agency that created or now maintains the particular record.

  • For current OCDC custody, use the Sheriff-linked portal or call the detention center.
  • For an Oconee booking record or existing releasable photo, submit a focused request through OCSO FOIA.
  • For a case result, contact the Oconee Clerk of Court, 205 W. Main St., Walhalla, at 864-638-4280, or use the court directory.
  • For a person currently sentenced to state prison, use the SCDC incarcerated inmate search.
  • For a federal or immigration custody question, consult the official BOP or ICE locator rather than a county roster.

City Police Records

Municipal police reports are normally requested from the city department that made the report. A city arrest can still lead to OCDC booking, but the original report remains a city-agency record. Seneca Police is at 205 N. Depot St., Seneca, SC 29678, 864-885-2718, with records email listed as records@seneca.sc.us. Walhalla Police lists 864-638-5831, and city records lists 864-638-4343. Westminster Police is at 106 E. Windsor St., Westminster, SC 29693, 864-647-3222, with public counter hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
